Debra Hanisch, R.N., P.N.P. Deb Hanisch, RN, PNP is a nurse practitioner in Pediatric Cardiology. A native of Cleveland, Deb received a BSN from Case Western Reserve University in 1980 and began her nursing career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital at University Hospitals of Cleveland. In 1983, after receiving an MSN in Pediatrics from the University of Virginia, she returned to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital to work in Pediatric Cardiology as an Advanced Practice Nurse. She subsequently was certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 1991. While in Cleveland, Deb enjoyed working with children undergoing cardiac catheterization and surgery, as well as managing a large pediatric pacemaker program. In January 1999, Deb moved from Ohio to the bay area to join the pediatric cardiology team at LPCH. Deb is responsible for managing the pediatric pacemaker and ICD follow-up program and the oral anticoagulation clinic based at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. Deb serves as a liaison and resource for families in the inpatient and outpatient settings as well as via telephone. She is also involved with the ongoing education of nurses in the ICUs and acute care areas. In addition, Deb coordinates activities for the parent support group, Pediatric HEARTS (Heart Education and Awareness Resource Team at Stanford).
